JERANTUT, May 22 – The Pahang State Parks Corporation (PTNP), in collaboration with Enggang Management Services (EMS), will lead a landmark scientific expedition into the Al-Sultan Abdullah Royal Tiger Reserve from 10–16 May 2025.

Funded by the European Union and supported by key conservation partners, the initiative will unite over 30 scientists and citizen scientists from institutions such as USM, UMT, UM, UKM, and FRIM, in a comprehensive biodiversity study aligned with global and national conservation goals. This week-long expedition—Malaysia’s first of its kind within a royal tiger reserve—aims to establish a foundational biodiversity inventory, supporting long-term conservation strategies.

“This marks the beginning of meaningful collaboration to protect Malaysia’s natural heritage,” said Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, Crown Prince of Pahang. The Reserve, part of the Central Forest Spine, holds crucial importance for endangered species, and the data collected will guide science-based conservation management.
